Online Experience A Reflection

Technology is important because it saves us time and makes tasks much simpler. Technology has changed over the last 5 years by having smartphones and tablets intrdouced along with new types of computers(for example, the touch screen monitor) and gaming consoles.New technology also allows us to bank online by just taking a picture of a check. I think it will advance even more in the next 5 years by having quicker internet, all phones have internet already on them and wifi wherever they go(I know there are phones already like this, but all phones will be upgraded to this.) Maybe even tablets installed in cars. All schools will have to use tablets or ipads instead of books, papers and, pencils which would also save a lot of paper and trees. and be better for the enviroment. The type of technology I use for school work is mainly a computer to find information for work or projects. The type of technology I use personally include my laptop, my ipod for music and gaming, my camera that I use when I'm taking photoshoots, and TV and game consoles for when I'm playing on the Wii, Playstation 3, etc. I will use some of the tools from Online A in the future for when I create a blog or  for future assignments. The tool I think is most practical for lifelong learning is a wiki or a blog becasue they both include information you could learn about. The tool I think I will never use again is a podcast because I prefer visually learning than audio. My least favorite was the podcast because I didn't like recording my voice in front of others.

March 1st Assignment

The podcast I listened to was by Musical DNA and was called What Came First, Music or Language? The podcast talked about the literature that turned words into music. I liked learning about things this way because there was an actual voice giving you info instead of having to read. I think people decide to make podcasts instead of written text because it may be easier to express the info and takes less time and thought then to write it down. I think the information is reliabel because of all the facts that are given.

Playstation 4

The Playstation 4 is getting even better! Something that makes this console more powerful than then its predescors is its central brain being an x86 processor, a PC style graphic processor, and eighty gigabytes of RAM. With this, the Playstatin 4 can push the the limits of some truly stunning graphics. The system was shown on Wednesday, and the actual hardware will probably not be shown until E3 in June. Another new gadget that the Playstation 4 has is on the controller. You now have the ability to share and stream videos just by pressing a button on the controller. The controller also has a touchpad right in the middle of it. Even though this isn't too much more than the Playstation 3 except for the newly designed controller, this is a large improvement for Sony.

Voki and Blabberize Comparison

Voki was much easier to use than blabberize. With Voki you don''t have to upload your picture, you can just create your avatar. Also with Voki you didn't have to record your voice because they already had voices you could choose from. I personally like Voki more because of its simplicity and its easy to use. I would definitely Voki again because of how simple it is to make an avatar on it. I could use this again for other classes maybe for pesentations or explaining things to other students.

Tracking Teresa Video

Tracking Teresa Video
Teresa gave out her first name, her little brother's name, her mother's name, her e-mail, telephone number, time of date  and when she will most likely be home. I have put out some personal information on the interent, my age and gender, but thats its. The most important to remember while on the internet is to not give away personal info, not your name, people you know names, address, or anything that give away where to find you. After watching a second video, "Julie's Journey", you can summarize how dangerous it is to give away personal information. You might think someone is your friend, but they could turn out to be your enemy. Never trust anyone online that you don't know in person. Don't ever meet up with someone from online because they could be a completely different person than you think and could hurt you.

Digital Footprint

Digital Footprint
I am proud that there is nothing of my digital footprint online. I was surprised to see a lot of people with the same name as me. There was nothing I was embarrassed about. What I will do to make sure that my footprint matches me accurately is to make a facebook.

Cyberbully Movie Comparison

Cyberbully Movie Comparison
Some of the similarities of cyberbullying in the movie and what we talked about in class is the way it can spread anywhere through the interent for anyone to see. It may seem like you're not hurting anyone, but in reality the other person could be offended by your words. Don't post mean comments back to the person that is bullying you, it only adds fuel to the fire. Some other similarites were how you should print copies of what the bully(s) were saying or tell an adult. Some of the differences between the movie and what we talked about were how people stood up for eachother and how easily you should get back together with friends even if there the ones who were the bully. The case in the movie was similar to the one we talked about in class because both girls were talking to someone on the internet that really didn't exist and it was just someone else bullying you or trying to get information from you.

Netiquette

Netiquette
Netiquette is the proper way to behave on the internet or the unspoken rules of how to act. Many people act differently on the internet then they do in real life. They may have said things online that they would never say in real life. In general, the way to act on the interenet is to just use good behaviior as you do in real life. Your netiquette can affect anyone on the interent that sees what you have said or done online. Examples of good netiquette is don't post flame-bait, or discussions about a strong opinion that might make people argue. Make yourself look good online by using proper grammar and spelling that make you seem smart. Be respectful to everyone else online. Examples of bad netiquette is cyberbullying. Don't cyerbully others, treat others the way you want to be treated. Don't point out people's mistakes, it's poor netiquette, and if you do make sure you do it politely and privately. Always think twice about something you do online, because even if you think you deleted it, it could always come back to haunt you.

Is Downloading Music Legal?

Is Downloading Music Legal?
The answer is yes and no. To explain this simpler, there are both legal and illegal ways to get music. The legal ways would include just using MP3 since it is just a file format.File sharing can also be legal to a certain extent without violating copyright laws. What is illegal is using websites like Napster or Limeware.(which don't exist anymore, but there are derivitive websites like it)Just be wary of these circumstances and if something looks too good to be true then it probably is. If you decide to use the illegal way, there are many fines and penalties that come with it. You may think that your being clever, but in the end your just getting yourself into trouble. Some of the fines can be anywhere from thousands of dollars to over half a million.

TV shows such as " South Park" and " Desperate Houswives" alonfg with films such as" Avatar" and the "Harry Potter" series are on Lime Wire for free acces that were allegedly infringed. The site was shut down as of October 2010 and charged a $105 million fine during a trial in Manhattan.

Research Project Wrap Up
My favorite part about my project was doing the Power Point and animations with it. My least favorite part was presenting the Power Point in front of the whole class. I learned many things I didn't know about Japan before, like all of the interesting places to visit and how big some of their shopping districts were. Something that was difficult to research on was some of the things to do for the tour palces, a lot of them had the same answers on every site so there wasn't much variation. The strong points in my presentation were all of my tour stops. The weak point in my presentation was the history part. Some suggestions I would have for research projects in the future for Mrs. Fowler would be to choose a state in the United States or to do a landmark thats really important.

Armed Robbers Hit Apple Store
On the night of New Year's Eve in 2012, a group of armed robbers forced their way into an Apple store and stole over $1.3 million worth over ipods and ipads. They didn't go through displays though instead they went through the storeroom boxes. After stealing the merchandise they evaded quickly into a Mercedes van parked nearby. The workers in the store had been threatened with violence during the event. Although it's estimated the robbers stole $1.3 million of merchandise, they Apple store is still trying to figure it out.
